Important: read before integrating any robot

OpenKinematics sells edge-compute hardware and ships software (including reinforcement-learning policies) that cause physical robots to move. Robots can injure people, damage property, and cause irreversible harm. Until you have completed a documented risk assessment and safe-commissioning procedure for the resulting machine, operate it only in a controlled, fenced, supervised environment with a working emergency stop. Nothing on this site is a substitute for engineering judgement.

1. Robotics safety & integrator responsibility

Our products are components and tools intended for integration into a final machine by a qualified integrator. The integrator (you, or a third party acting for you) is responsible, among other things, for:

  • Risk assessment and risk reduction in accordance with EN ISO 12100;
  • Safety-related parts of control systems (EN ISO 13849-1 / IEC 61508);
  • Industrial robots (EN ISO 10218-1/2) and collaborative robots (ISO/TS 15066);
  • Mobile-robot safety (ANSI/RIA R15.08-1, ISO 3691-4 where applicable);
  • Functional safety of the resulting machine and emergency-stop architecture;
  • EU Machinery Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, applicable from 14 January 2027) and the prior Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC;
  • Low-Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU and EMC Directive 2014/30/EU (or equivalents) where applicable;
  • CE / UKCA / FCC / KC / NRTL / EAC marking and conformity assessment of the final machine;
  • Workplace and occupational health-and-safety law in the place of operation;
  • Cybersecurity of the deployed system (ISO/IEC 27001, IEC 62443, NIS 2 where applicable).

Ratings or certifications we publish (e.g. IP54/IP67 enclosure options) describe the supplied component and do not guarantee compliance of the final machine.

2. AI & ML output disclaimer

Reinforcement-learning policies, simulation results, perception outputs, and any other machine-learning components are inherently non-deterministic and may fail. Performance demonstrated in our environments or in simulation is not a guarantee of performance in your environment. Any policy you deploy:

  • Must be validated by you in your environment before production use;
  • Must be operated under appropriate human oversight, with the ability to safely stop or override at any time;
  • Should be monitored continuously, with logging and a defined failure-mode response.

Our outputs are provided "as is", with no representation or warranty of correctness, completeness, fitness for any particular purpose, or freedom from defects, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.

3. Prohibited high-risk uses

Without our prior written authorisation, you must not use the Service in or for: (a) life-critical medical devices or clinical decision-making; (b) on-road autonomous vehicles intended for public roads; (c) aviation, spaceflight, or watercraft autopilots; (d) nuclear facilities, life-support systems, or critical infrastructure where failure could cause loss of life or major environmental harm; (e) autonomous weapons systems, lethal-force targeting, or weapons of mass destruction (biological, chemical, nuclear, radiological); (f) practices prohibited under Article 5 of the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), including untargeted scraping of facial images for biometric databases, social scoring by public authorities, real-time remote biometric identification in publicly accessible spaces (subject to narrow exceptions), and emotion inference in workplaces or educational institutions; (g) any use that violates export-control or sanctions law (see §6).

If your deployment falls within an EU AI Act "high-risk" sector (Annex III), you remain solely responsible for high-risk-system obligations, including risk management, data governance, human oversight, technical documentation, conformity assessment, and post-market monitoring of the AI system you deploy.

4. Pricing, lead times & pre-orders

  • All prices, configurator subtotals, third-party MSRPs, lead times, and component selections shown on this site are indicative and subject to change without notice until confirmed in a written quote or order acknowledgement.
  • Pre-orders, configurator submissions, and quote requests are non-binding expressions of interest. A binding contract is formed only when we expressly accept the order in writing.
  • Estimated lead times depend on third-party component supply and may change.
  • Performance figures, integration-time figures (e.g. "under one hour"), savings figures (e.g. "$200,000+"), and uptime targets (e.g. "99.9%") reflect typical customer experience and are not guarantees. Service level commitments are governed by a separate written Service Level Agreement.

6. Export controls & sanctions

Some hardware (e.g. NVIDIA Jetson modules) and software components are subject to export controls under EU Regulation (EU) 2021/821, the US Export Administration Regulations (15 CFR §730–774), and equivalent regimes. By using or ordering, you confirm that you (and the end user) are not located in, or a national or resident of, a country subject to comprehensive sanctions, are not on any sanctions or denied-party list, and will not export, re-export, or transfer the products to any prohibited destination, end use, or end user.
